And you thought omega-3 fats were just for heart health.

Some supplements you get primarily to enhance your physique, and others you get to support your health and wellness.

But then there are those rare products that do both — help you get shredded and look better while also boosting your long-term health.

Protein powder is one of those. It helps you build muscle and stay lean while also supporting bone health by providing calcium.

Creatine is another. It provides a huge boost to your muscles, but also offers various health benefits.

One other do-it-all supplement is fish oil. Its omega-3 fats are best known for boosting heart health and brain function and supporting healthy joints, but most people have no clue that fish oil can also play a role in fat loss and muscle building.

So if you’ve been passing on fish oil supplements like Omega JYM because you’re currently more focused on changing your physique than improving your health markers, it might be time to reconsider. Here’s how fish oil can help you get bigger, stronger, and leaner…

How Fish Oil Helps Fat Loss

Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) — both of which are found in Omega JYM) — are crucial in regulating fat metabolism. These omega-3s work by activating genes that promote fat burning while deactivating those that encourage fat storage. This dual action is precisely what makes fish oil an effective supplement for reducing body fat.

One study from National Taiwan University using mice also found that omega-3 fats from fish oil enhanced genes involved in glucose uptake and storage in the muscles of the mice. The body’s ability to process glucose can play a huge role in staying lean in addition to keeping blood sugar levels in check for better health.

To achieve the fat loss benefits of fish oil, it's essential to consume adequate amounts of DHA and EPA. Omega JYM is specifically formulated to provide the optimal daily amounts of 1,500 milligrams of both DHA and EPA, plus an additional 300 milligrams of DPA (docosapentaenoic acid), to promote maximum health benefits as well as fat loss.

How Fish Oil Supports Muscle Gains

Tracking to pack on lean muscle in addition to dropping body fat and getting healthier? Fish oil may help with that, too.

One study at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania found that participants taking four grams of fish oil per day (1,600mg of EPA and 800mg of DHA) for six weeks lost one pound of fat mass and gained one pound of fat-free mass without changing their diet or exercise routines. These changes may seem modest, but keep in mind that gaining one pound of muscle is easier said than done. And with a proper diet and exercise program the results would probably be even more impressive.

Researchers observed lower cortisol levels in the fish oil group, which may explain the gain in fat-free mass. Since cortisol can break down muscle and interfere with testosterone, reducing cortisol levels might support greater muscle growth.

Further research suggests fish oil may help maintain lean mass. A study from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis provided healthy men and women ages 25-45 with either four grams of fish oil or corn oil daily for eight weeks. Published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the study reported that older adults (over 65) who took fish oil experienced an increase in muscle protein synthesis — the process of building muscle from amino acids — when consuming protein and carbs compared to a placebo (corn oil) group.

Fish Oil: It’s Not Just For Heart Health

Adding Omega JYM to your supplement regimen could be a game-changer for both fat loss and muscle growth, in addition to all the other great reasons to take fish oil. It’s truly a multitasking, do-it-all supplement!
