If you look at the Supplement Facts label of both products, you’ll see five ingredients common in both SS8 and Shred JYM:

• • Acetyl-L-Carnitine
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Capsimax® Cayenne Pepper Fruit Extract
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Caffeine

The first three ingredients listed here are in the exact same form and at the same dose in both products. Green tea extract and caffeine, however, are a bit different in SS8.

Regarding green tea extract, there’s a lower percentage of EGCG in SS8 as compared to Shred JYM, so I had to put 55mg more total green tea extract to reach the recommended 250mg of EGCG. (Shred JYM contains 500mg of green tea extract; SS8 has 555mg.)

With caffeine, Shred JYM contains 200mg of caffeine anhydrous. SS8, on the other hand, bumps up the total caffeine dose to 300mg (the same amount found in one serving of Pre JYM), with only 100mg of that being the anhydrous form. The other 200mg is in the form of zümXR® Six-Hour Extended Release Caffeine. The anhydrous will get into your system quickly, while the extended release caffeine will take effect gradually over the course of roughly six hours.

In addition to the aforementioned five ingredients, SS8 contains three unique components not found in Shred JYM:

Chromium is an essential mineral that’s been shown to regulate glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Chromium Picolinate is a specific form of chromium with high bioavailability in the body, and thus it’s the best form to take for regulating blood sugar and improving insulin levels in the body. The trademarked Chromax® is the most widely studied type of Chromium Picolinate.

Both of these factors will help you get leaner and stay lean. Insulin in particular is the body’s main fat storage hormone, so you don’t want it stay at elevated levels for prolonged periods of time. When you’re “insulin resistant,” blood sugar and insulin levels go up and stay up. Chromium Picolinate, however, can help keep those levels in check.

Chromium has also been shown to be effective for curbing carbohydrate cravings, which will be highly beneficial for anyone following a low-carb diet (ie, Keto diet) or even intermittent fasting, to try and get leaner.

Grains of Paradise, aka “Calorie Burn GP” on the label, has been shown in research to increase metabolism and energy expenditure (calorie burning) and reduce body fat when taken daily. Since I first formulated Shred JYM, more positive research has come out on Grains of Paradise, which is why I added it to SS8.

Grains of Paradise has been shown to activate brown adipose tissue. There are two main types of fat in your body: “inactive” white adipose tissue, and “active” brown adipose tissue. The white adipose is used to store energy (body fat), while brown adipose burns calories and supports metabolic function. The more brown adipose you have, the faster your metabolism will be and the more calories – and body fat – you’ll burn. Grains of Paradise has been shown to increase brown adipose tissue activation to help burn more fat and sustain that fat loss long term.

AdrenaJYM boosts fat loss by increasing the amount of fat that gets released from your fat cells – similar to caffeine (which is also in SS8), but in a different manner. Yohimbine and Rauwolscine help boost the release of fat-burning hormones called catecholamines. Certain receptors in the body prevent catecholamine release; Adrena JYM essentially blocks these receptors to help you burn more body fat.

You probably recognize the name SS8 from something else: my Super Shredded 8 training program and diet (SS8 for short).

There’s a reason I have a training program, a diet, and now a fat-burning supplement all with the same SS8 name – because they were designed to be done TOGETHER.

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know I’m not someone who believes in a magic bullet or a gimmicky scheme for getting lean. To get as shredded and muscular as possible takes three things:

1. 1. High-intensity, periodized training (including both weights and HIIT cardio).
   2. A proper diet that’s high in protein, has ample healthy fats, and manipulates carbs intelligently based off your fat loss progress.
   3. A scientifically formulated, multifaceted supplement to enhance the fat-burning effects of the training and nutrition.
