Remember the days of snacking on Jell-o cups to avoid indulging in calorie-rich foods? Top it off with a whizz of whipped cream and you're in heaven. Why is nobody eating Jell-o any longer?! Here’s what we propose – bring back Jell-o but make it better – aka Protein Jell-o!

Mixing protein into Jell-o is no easy feat. That’s why we tested and tested (and tested) this recipe to ensure you end up with Jell-o and not some science experiment. Here’s the trick - mix Clear Whey Isolate with water in advance, so you don’t end up with foam or clumps.

This sweet snack is so low in calories you could eat the entire thing! Try topping with whipped cream, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or even fresh fruit!

RECIPE

Makes 4 (½ cup) servings

  • ½ to 1 scoop JYM Clear Whey Isolate Grape or flavor of choice
  • 2 cups water, divided
  • 1 pack of sugar-free or regular Jell-O mix (flavor of choice)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Bring one cup of water to a boil and mix in the Jell-O package; stir to combine well. Heat until dissolved.
  2. Pour the Jell-O mixture into a large bowl or measuring cup. Place in the fridge for 20 minutes.
  3. Combine the remaining water with ½ to 1 scoop of protein powder. Place in the fridge until the Jell-O mixture is ready.
  4. Take the Jell-O out of the fridge and gently stir in the protein water mixture until combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a baking pan or dish. Put it back in the fridge and allow it to set completely for at least 4 hours.
  6. Store in the fridge covered for up to 2 weeks.

TIPS

  • Try these flavor combinations: orange Jell-O mixed with green apple clear whey, raspberry Jell-O mixed with Grape clear whey, and lime or watermelon Jell-O mixed with Mango Lime clear whey.
  • Try using your favorite sports beverage instead of water for a rehydrating intra- or post-workout protein snack!
  • This recipe also works well with any of JYM’s Preworkout Formulas or BCAAs
