Leaving out any of the 5 must-have ingredients in a pre-workout is like making a cake with no milk or eggs.


Would you make a cake without milk, eggs, flour, butter, or sugar?

Of course not. These are the key elements of a cake – the ingredients you MUST HAVE for it to be the most delicious, fluffy, amazingcake possible.

Substitute water for milk, almond flour for regular flour, or leave out the sugar, and that’ll be a pretty crappy cake. Good luck serving that at your kid’s birthday party or your next anniversary dessert. Worst cake ever.

If your pre-workout were a cake, the milk, eggs, flour, butter, and sugar – the must-have ingredients – would be:

  • Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)
  • Creatine
  • Beta-alanine
  • Betaine
  • Citrulline malate

Substitute arginine for citrulline malate, EAAs for BCAAs, or leave any of the five ingredients out completely, and that’s a pretty crappy pre-workout – a pre-workout that fails to maximize performance and results.

Just as a cake needs certain things to be a real cake, a pre-workout needs the above five must-have ingredients to be a true performance pre-workout.

Look at your pre-workout. Are the above ingredients in it? If you’re looking at a Pre JYM label, they most certainly are. But if you’re holding some off-brand pre-workout that’s missing one or more of those crucial ingredients, you might as well be making a cake with orange juice and garlic powder instead of milk and sugar.

Get a pre-workout that works. Make sure it has the 5 MUST-HAVE INGREDIENTS.
