In the spirit of my #WageWarOnInactivity campaign to increase everyone’s activity throughout the day, I’m taking an extreme step. On Christmas Day, the day we typically sit around with family and friends eating, drinking and then eating and drinking a little more, I’m challenging you to be your most active with my JimStoppani.com Christmas Day Fitness Challenge.
The challenge is this: Complete 25 sets of 25 reps of one exercise at any point throughout the day on Christmas – 625 total reps.
Here are the six easy steps for officially taking part in my Christmas Day Fitness Challenge:
STEP 1: Pick any exercise you like. It can be a bodyweight move like push-ups, lunges, air squats, crunches, or pull-ups, or an exercise with weights such as bench press, curls, pulldowns or kettlebell swings. Just make sure it’s some sort of calisthenic or resistance training exercise, as opposed to, say, 25 sets of 25 skips of jumping rope (though I would definitely allow 625 double-unders for the hardcore CrossFitters out there) or 625 steps taken on a run.
STEP 2: Record yourself via video on December 25, 2015, doing all 25 sets of 25 reps of that exercise. You can rest for as long as you like between sets and do them throughout the day.
STEP 3: Pat yourself on the back – you completed 625 reps!
STEP 4: Edit your video to place reps on fast forward.
STEP 5: Head to my Facebook page and find my video of me doing the Christmas Day Challenge.
STEP 6: Post your video there by midnight PST on December 26, 2015.
STEP 7: The three videos that best capture the spirit of staying active on what’s typically one of the most inactive days of the year for people – as determined by number of Facebook “Likes” as well as the discretion of me and my social media team – will each win a free one-year membership to JimStoppani.com and a free JYM System (1 Pre JYM, 1 Post JYM, 1 Pro JYM). I’ll announce the winners via video on December 29.
Good luck everyone, and Merry Christmas!
