The JYM Bar delivers everything you can ask for in a physique-friendly protein bar: better taste, better macros, better ingredients.

I’ve FINALLY entered the protein bar category with the JYM Bar, and I can confidently (and humbly) say that there’s absolutely nothing like it on the market today in terms of taste and texture, macronutrient profile, and ingredients.

The JYM Bar melts in your mouth with its whipped Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup center, but don’t let the great taste fool you – this protein bar is actually healthy and physique-friendly! Each bar contains 20 grams of high-quality protein, only 6 grams of carbs (3 of those being fiber, so only 3 net carbs), and 0 grams of sugar alcohols.

Other protein bars on the market either skimp on protein; are loaded with carbs and sugar; contain low-quality ingredients (like protein concentrates); cause stomach discomfort (or worse) due to sugar alcohols; have terrible taste and texture; or all of the above!

The JYM Bar is different – it’s a revolutionary protein bar that eats like a dessert while still fitting into any muscle-building, fat loss diet.

What’s in the JYM Bar

The nutrition profile of the JYM Bar is like nothing you’ve ever seen – at least not in a protein bar that actually tastes good. Here’s a snapshot of what’s in it:

    • 20 grams of protein from high-quality whey protein isolate and micellar casein.
    • Only 6 grams of carbs, half of that (3 grams) coming from fiber – that’s only 3 net carbs.
    • Only 1 gram of sugar!
    • 250 calories per bar.

What’s NOT in the JYM Bar

So many bars on the market contain cheap ingredients and other fillers that are doing your physique and overall health NO favors. You won’t find those ingredients in the JYM Bar.

    • 0 grams of sugar alcohols (and no GI issues that come with sugar alcohols)
    • No protein concentrates
    • No soy protein
    • No gluten
    • No lactose
    • No egg
    • No strange taste or aftertaste
    • No TMJ issues or jaw pain from chewing a rock-hard bar!

Why I Created the JYM Bar

I created the JYM Bar because I wanted a protein bar that I could eat to help me reach my goals of gaining muscle and strength and staying lean and shredded.

I guess you could say I started with a selfish motive, but that's how I approach all my JYM products: They have to meet my standards first before I feel comfortable offering them to you. I wouldn’t try to sell you a product that I wouldn’t use myself. I wonder how many of the muscular, shredded social media fitness “influencers” promoting high-carb, high-sugar bars actually eat those bars themselves on a regular basis? Trust me, you aren’t going to stay super-lean eating a protein bar with 15 grams of sugar every day!

With my high standards, I couldn’t trust all the other supplement and food companies out there to deliver what I needed in a bar in terms of quality ingredients, macros, and taste. So, I had to make my own protein bar, which wasn’t easy due to the challenges inherent in this type of product.

It took me literally 5 years to create the JYM Bar and get it right. Why did it take that long? One reason has to do with technology in the food manufacturing industry that took a while to catch up – but it finally did.

But also, I wasn’t going to just come out with the same bar everyone else does, loaded with tons of carbs, sugar alcohols, and fiber. I needed to raise the bar (pardon my pun) on protein bars, and I had my work cut out for me.

3 Main Protein Bar Problems… and how the JYM Bar Overcame Them

It took so long to produce this protein bar due to three main challenges: (1) taste and texture, (2) macronutrients, and (3) ingredients.

1) Taste and Texture

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of protein bars that taste like crap, are so dry and thick you’re choking them down... and for all that trouble they’re not even healthy! The JYM Bar tastes amazing, like your favorite chocolate peanut butter candy bar. I just have this one flavor right now – Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup – because it’s so hard to get a healthy protein bar to taste good. I’ll be coming out with more flavors in the future.

A lot of trial and error went into making this protein bar taste so good. I went through at least 3 or 4 different bar manufacturers (I lost count) to try and get it right. And even the manufacturer I ended up going with for the JYM Bar failed several times before getting it right.

I had to push the manufacturer’s R&D team to apply different science to the process of making a protein bar and having it taste good. I had them try ingredients they’d never even considered before – because no one had ever asked (or demanded) them to try something different.

That’s what science is about: Trying something new, failing, trying something else, and failing… over and over again until you get it right. With the JYM Bar, we eventually got the taste and texture right. It just took 5 years!

2) Macronutrients

Any bar I was going to put my name on had to have at least 20 grams of protein. Most bars you see at the store don’t have nearly that much protein; they usually have around 10 grams, maybe 15.

Not only is the protein low in most bars, but the carbs are through the roof – often double the grams of protein (20-30+ grams for a bar that only has 10-15 grams of protein). They call these protein bars? More like energy (calorie) bars!

There are some high-protein bars out there with 20 or more grams of protein, but those typically have 20, 30, 40 grams of carbs. You’re going to blow your macros out of the water with a bar like that. Good luck staying lean with those numbers!

I needed my bar to be high in protein and low in carbs. And that’s what the JYM Bar is: 20 grams of protein and only 6 grams of carbs. Find me another bar with those macros that also tastes good – it’s unheard of. And 3 of those 6 grams are from fiber, so if we’re talking about “net carbs,” it’s only 3 grams!

3) Ingredients

A huge problem with protein bars is that so many of them include “sugar alcohols.” That’s how they keep the total carbohydrates low. But sugar alcohols can make you feel bloated and give you GI issues that send you to the bathroom because the body doesn’t digest sugar alcohols like it does sugar.

There was no way I was going to let my bar contain a bunch of sugar alcohols, so I'm happy to say that the JYM Bar has 0 grams of sugar alcohols!

(One thing to clarify regarding sugar alcohols: Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that’s listed under “Ingredients” on the JYM Bar label. There’s 0.3g of it included, and FDA regulations round it down to 0 since it’s less than 0.5g.)

The other issue with ingredients is the type of protein in the bar. The JYM Bar contains whey protein isolate and micellar casein (both of which are also in Pro JYM). Other bars use protein concentrates. The problem with concentrates is that they include too many unwanted carbs and have a lower protein content than isolates.

As I explained in this Plant JYM article, most concentrates consist of only 80% protein at most (and sometimes as low as 50%), with the remainder of the powder being cheap filler carbs (namely, lactose) and fat. With isolates, due to the filtering process, you’re getting over 90% protein and half as many carbs (or fewer) as concentrates. And in the JYM Bar, you’re also getting no lactose.

One reason a lot of bars are so high in carbs is because they use concentrates. Aside from high carbs, anyone who’s lactose-intolerant won’t do well with one of these other protein bars (since the lactose is left in with protein concentrates).

The JYM Bar contains no protein concentrates. It took me five years to figure out how to get protein isolates into this bar, but I finally got it.

To sum it all up, what makes the JYM Bar different from hundreds other protein bars on the market? Simple: Better Taste and Texture, Better Macros, Better Ingredients.

What exactly does the JYM Bar taste like?

The taste and texture of the JYM Bar is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced in a bar that’s low in carbs and sugar and has 0 grams of sugar alcohols. When it comes to delivering a bar that’s both physique-friendly and delicious, I truly believe that the JYM Bar has broken new ground.

The way I think of it, biting into a JYM Bar is like biting into a chocolate-and-peanut-butter cloud! This isn’t one of those wafer bars that a lot of companies make, and it’s also not a super thick and dense bar that you need a whole glass of water or milk to wash down.

The middle of the JYM Bar is light and whipped, sort of like a 3 Musketeers candy bar. (At room temperature, that is; when cold, it’s more like a Butterfinger. See below section on storing JYM Bars in the refrigerator to keep them from melting.)

When you eat a JYM Bar, you won’t believe it’s healthy. You'll think you’re eating a candy bar or a high-calorie, high-sugar dessert, when in fact you’re eating something that fits into even a strict fat loss diet! The JYM Bar melts in your mouth… it’s amazing.

How to Store Your JYM Bars

The only caveat I’ll add about these bars has to do with storing them. This is basically a dessert, and as I said, these literally melt in your mouth. But also, they melt pretty easily in warm or hot temperatures. JYM Bars can be stored either at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

When you want eat a JYM Bar, you can either eat it cold (which makes it firm like a Butterfinger candy bar), or you can get a bar out of the fridge an hour or so before you plan to eat it and keep it on the kitchen counter so it gets to room temperature and is more soft and crumbly. Personally, that’s how I prefer to eat a JYM Bar – at room temperature.

JYM Bars are very delicate. Do NOT throw a JYM Bar in your pocket and walk around with it! Your body heat will melt this thing. Would you walk around with a piece of cheesecake in your pocket? No! Treat the JYM Bar like a dessert, even though its marconutrient profile is nothing of the sort.

If you want to throw a JYM Bar in your gym bag or backpack for convenience, put it in the freezer for a while beforehand so that it thaws (instead of melts) in your bag. Or, put the bar in a small cooler bag with an ice pack in it, and put that cooler bag in your larger bag – just like you’d do with your kids’ lunches for school or summer camp.

If you want to eat a JYM Bar in the car on a warm day, take it out of the fridge and take it with you, and it will literally warm up to room temperature by the time you back out of your driveway and get on the road.

However, if your JYM Bar does get melted or smashed, don’t throw it out. Just put it back in the refrigerator until it gets cold again, and then you’ll be able to eat it without it getting too messy.

What if my bars arrive “soft”?

Because the JYM Bars are so delicate (and not loaded with all the processed and unhealthy crap that allows other bars to stay solid at a variety of temperatures) it happens fairly often that JYM Bars soften up on their way to being delivered. It might seem like the bars are melted, but they still maintain their shape. Don’t worry, this isn’t a big deal.

If your bars arrive soft, the taste and texture of them can be easily restored by putting them immediately in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or placing them in the freezer for at least 10-15 minutes before eating.

If your bars arrive still chilled, you can simply keep them at room temperature to enjoy them soft and fluffy. Or, keep them in the fridge for a harder feel, somewhat like a Butterfinger center.

If you keep your home warm (75 degrees or warmer), store them the refrigerator for best keeping. Even if you store them cold, you can enjoy them warm by leaving them out at room temperature for several minutes before eating.

People worry that after the bars have softened, they’ll stick to the wrapper even after being in the freezer and refrigerator – but this isn’t the case. Try it for yourself and see. They’re just as non-messy (and delicious) as if they showed up to your door cold!

Where to Get your JYM Bars

Eventually, you’ll be able to get the JYM Bar in stores pretty much anywhere. Retailers are chomping at the bit (and the whey protein isolate and low carbs!) to get JYM Bars in their stores.

For now, until we work out deals with retailers, JYM Bars are only available by the box here at JYMSupps.com. Which isn’t a bad thing, because buying a box keeps the per-bar price a little lower than if buying a single bar at a store – plus you get JYM Rewards too!
