This JYM Athlete turned a frustrating injury into a successful fitness career.
Like many young athletes, Ryan Schmidle had a very clear goal: to play his sport at the highest level. His sport was soccer, and his eventual goal was to play Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States and parlay that into a career in Europe playing at the premier level.
And he was well on his way, competing in a top youth program as a teenager with a Division I college scholarship all but a sure thing – until it wasn’t. An overuse injury to his hip damaged the joint to a point where his soccer career ended abruptly early in his senior year of high school. Just like that, his dreams were dashed.
So what did he do? He dreamed a new dream of being a star in the health and fitness industry. So far, so good. Now he’s a JYM athlete inspiring others to be their best selves and establishing himself as one of the brightest influencers in the industry.
